The Leder Law Group

The Leder Law Group understands the legal problems confronting insurers and provides timely, creative, pragmatic and cost-effective solutions. We have developed the highest level of expertise in these areas, which permits us to leverage our resources and network to help our clients get results.

Our experience is hard to match. Our attorneys have handled thousands of related cases and have published dozens of articles in these areas.

Whether we are advising on the scope of coverage or defending a lead paint poisoning case, we understand that companies are looking for solutions rather than someone to simply “handle” the case. We work closely with clients to devise and execute their strategy and to achieve their goals.

Measuring Success:

Our objective is typically to achieve cost-effective results once responsibilities and liability are established. Success is measured against potential exposure, be it settling the case, taking it to trial or winning on summary judgment. This may mean scaling down the case so the trial is less expensive and the amount at risk is manageable.

We’ve won numerous lead poisoning and other toxic exposure cases on summary judgment.  In the insurance coverage arena, we have won construction defects, mold, wrongful termination, directors and officers and professional liability cases on summary judgment. We avoided national litigation concerning insurance coverage in the racehorse and greyhound industry with a win on summary judgment.

A nuisance settlement may be warranted where liability is questionable. For example, we settled a claim for the destruction of the videotape from a TV pilot for less than $2,000. We’ve settled numerous multi-million dollar construction coverage claims on favorable terms, such as 10 cents on the dollar.

We are experienced in trying cases to either a defense verdict or limited recovery. For example, a client accidentally overfilled a heating oil tank so that oil spread throughout the plaintiff ‘s basement. We advised the client to clean up the spill and provide housing for the plaintiffs. This limited the plaintiff’s recovery (above clean up and housing) to $5,000.
